REASONS WHY I WANT BUT END UP DIDN’T
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new
dream.” – C.S. Lewis
This saying reflects who I am today and where I am now. I'm
Aldrin Sierra; I dreamed of being a great engineer but am now in the world of
teaching. But before everything else, let me go back to the reasons why I chose
engineering as a course and profession then.
I was in grade 10 when I needed to decide what course I would
take because, upon entering SHS, it was necessary to align the strand to be
taken with the chosen course. I know it was a difficult decision for me because
I couldn't see myself ten years from now. I knew what I was good at, but it
still wasn't enough to be my criteria for choosing a course. Until I talked to
my grandfather, who told me that engineering is the best course of all because
it earns good money. I thought that if it was about making money, why wouldn't
my choice be suitable for this line? Take a business management course or any
course related to money. Until I did my research and discovered that my
grandfather was correct, engineering was a good course. And when I was in SHS,
I took STEM because engineering was suitable for it.
I can say that during the two years of my life at SHS, I learned
a lot. I loved engineering even more because it opened my eyes to complex
things. I can say that one of the reasons I chose engineering was because it or
they were part of the planning to build strong and beautiful houses, roads, and
tall establishments. It is also said that engineers are good at math and their
salaries are high.
I'm taking a course on education right now, and I can confidently declare that this is my calling. Teaching is the job on which all other professions depend, according to Linda Darling, since instructors work to open pupils' minds to concepts, information, and aspirations.

Thank you for sharing a blog that teaches everyone to accept the things that was not really meant for them. Thank you for being an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGetting back on track wasn't easy for you, but you managed to pull back yourself in place. It's glad to know that you have found your happy place in teaching. Your post can open up the minds of a many people that are experiencing the same situation. Looking forward for more updates!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you took the time to read my blog. If you only knew, I don't know how to start writing this content because my story will be an open book. But I chose to be positive, so I fought and broke free from my prison. Because telling your life story as a future teacher is a good way to win the heart of your future students. It's so nice that you keep looking forward to my uploads. I'll make sure that I upload some more.
DeleteIn this age and time, the ability to make large amount of money is one of the key factors in choosing a profession. It can't be helped, money is powerful. With that, going against the flow and pursuing your so-called calling may sound stupid and suicidal for some. However, it also proves your potential to be an astounding educator. Teaching is not for the faint-hearted, you are responsible to hone the skills of younger generations for them to thrive in the society we live in. Thank you for inspiring us, I hope you will be able to touch the lives of your students! :)
ReplyDeleteI know we all have our own beliefs and views on life. I'm glad because despite the difference, they agree when talking about change or making everyone's life better. I'm glad you took the time to read my content. And I hope that your wish for me as a future educator will come true. I'll keep you updated and look forward to our success in life.
DeleteProud of you for having the courage to shift, I know it must be a hard decision but at least now you are happy with what you've chosen. I was teary eyed reading your blog, thank you for being brave enough to share this so that other people can learn from your experience.
ReplyDeleteMy courage in revealing this part of my life was not easy. As you said, changing careers was a difficult decision, so I chose to fight myself. And if I go back to yesterday, I would choose to be a teacher. Thank you very much for reading my blog.
DeleteIt's hard to know what to do, but if we all just wait it out and shift course, sometimes things look better than they really are.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Sir Tranquilino! Sometimes in life, if it no longer brings you good, you need to leave it. And there's nothing wrong with changing careers because you don't need other people's validation. "Magpakatotoo at magpakatao"— that's the formula for success.
DeleteI got teary-eyed while reading this. I am very proud of you, Sir Aldrin!
ReplyDeleteI am touched that you got teary-eyed while reading my blog. I'm proud of you too, Sir Gelo!
DeleteAt my age I am still not sure about my dream of becoming a teacher. Because my mother didn't like it, she wanted me to be a nurse. My mother asked me "What is your dream when you grow up?" I said "become a teacher" then she said "seriously?" and i said "yes" well i'm not sure if i will really become a teacher in the future. Imagine if I could become a nurse, maybe my mother would be happy with me somehow. I'm trying to like being a nurse but I'm afraid of needles, I'm also afraid of blood so I don't want to be a nurse. But when I read your blog I must have been sure of my dream. Maybe after a few years I will be able to fulfill my dream with strength and determination, of course with a little confidence. Your blog made me cry a little, they say poverty is not an obstacle to make your dreams come true. I am still pursuing my dream and because of what I read in your blog I want to be a teacher even more. I learned so many things in your blog and i realized something. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Good luck on your journey.
ReplyDeleteWe all have experiences that can lead us to what we call success. It could be bitter or sweet, but the important thing is that the choices we make in life are ours, not theirs. As for you, Leir, I am delighted that my blog has inspired you and your desire to pursue and become a professional teacher. I hope I'll be seeing you and joining you in the field of teaching. Good luck on your journey, Leir!
DeleteI am pleased that my experience will help you decide which career path to take. As long as you always remember that you don't have to think about what other people will say and do to you. Just choose where you will be better, happier, and where there will be a big change in yourself because, at the end of the day, the choice is yours, not theirs! Thanks a lot.
